The SD series engine is a preferred power source for large tractors and other agricultural equipment. It is an advanced engine with a new design and advanced technology, featuring a high reliability, low fuel consumption and a fast transient response. The engine torque reserve coefficient is greater than 35% with a power range of 180-360PCS, thus meeting Tier III, V off-road emission standards.
The SD series engine prototype was jointly designed by SMAN and AVL (Austria) based on domestic fuel quality and user habits. In 2005,SMAN carried out a reinforced design and 4-valve upgrade in cooperation with Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) of the United States. In accordance with the American heavy-duty diesel engine standards, the SD series engine is designed as an environmentally friendly power product that meets higher emission requirements. The SD series engines are popular, with more than 1,500,000 sets in circulation.
